This project delivers a hybrid solar power system<\/strong> to support vocational training and daily learning activities at the Atauro Cannossa Youth Training Centre on Atauro Island, Timor-Leste.
The project is supported by Asia Dreams<\/strong> and was developed to address ongoing energy access challenges on the island, where grid electricity is available for limited hours and frequently experiences outages during both daytime and nighttime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Energy Context<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Atauro Island continues to face significant energy infrastructure constraints.
Electricity supply is typically limited to approximately 12 hours per day<\/strong>, with complete shutdowns during the night<\/strong> and intermittent outages during daylight hours.

These conditions directly affect:
– Night-time study and training activities
– Use of computers, lighting, and essential equipment
– Overall reliability of the learning environment for students<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Solar System Solution<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To improve energy reliability and learning conditions, GoKoval installed a 6 kWp hybrid solar PV system<\/strong> paired with 23 kWh of battery storage<\/strong>.

The system enables:
– Continuous power supply during nighttime grid shutdowns
– Backup electricity during daytime outages
– Stable energy for lighting, training equipment, and digital learning tools
